Most People — Including EmilyNews — Probably Misunderstood It.
It looks like the website description of the 24-Hour Daily Plan offered by Appco (reviewed here) is a bit misleading. The website clearly says that you will receive 4.375% per hour for 24 hours, which comes to a total gross return of 105% per day. The “fine print” says you will receive “+0.2% upon reinvestment.” To me, this sounds like, if I reinvest my 105% return, the next time around I will earn 105.2%. Right? Wrong! The way things really work is that for your first investment YOU ONLY RECEIVE A GROSS RETURN OF 104%. Then, if you reinvest FIVE MORE TIMES, with each reinvestment, you earn an additional 0.2% until your return reaches 105% per day. Then, it stays there; you can never earn more than that.
This is tricky advertising and we should always become aware of this kind of thing. A company has an obligation to clearly explain how all of its investment plans work in the website presentation of the plans. I hope that the folks at Appco will straighten this out very quickly. Fortunately, Appco clarified things in a recent Blog post. The website should also be changed to clarify things. In case you missed their Blog post, here it is.
