News from Octoin!
There are many news that is posted by Octoin (reviewed here)! In fact, the Octoin Blog is overflowing with announcements of conferences, meetings, and other news from many many countries — mostly in southeast Asia. Often times the announcements are in the local language. Some of the news items that are in English find their way to the News page of the Octoin website. We have several news items below. One problem with many of the Octoin News posts is that they are announcements of meetings, conferences, etc. that are on the SAME DAY as the announcement. That pretty much means that they will be useless to anyone who has to plan ahead for travel to attend such events. Octoin should make a serious effort to provide ADVANCE notice. This will certainly help to bolster attendance at the events. For example, the News page includes announcements dated December 16 for a conference in Nigeria on that same day as well as for a Webinar in Germany also on that day. It might be possible to make last minute arrangements to attend a webinar. But that can’t be done for a conference — especially if it is any distance from where you live.
