US Investors Can Now Use Colobit!
Colobit (reviewed here) just published a brief news release implying that, previously, US citizens could not invest with Colobit but now they can because, “in the legal field, we have adjusted this issue.” I am definitely NOT a legal expert. So, what I say about this is my own opinion. However, here’s my take on this and it would apply not only to Colobit, but to other HYIPs as well. I think that the problem for US investors is that we (I live in the US) are not permitted to utilize the standard payment processors like Perfect Money, Payeer, etc. I don’t think this has anything to do with US citizenship; the law applies to anyone living in the US (have you ever heard of an HYIP asking you for your citizenship?). Therefore, it has been hard for US residents to become involved with many HYIPs. However, I believe that Bitcoin is an exception to this rule as the use of Bitcoin has no borders. So, even though I have not checked this personally, I believe that it has always been possible for US residents to invest in HYIPs using Bitcoin. Since Bitcoin is the only means of depositing or withdrawing funds from Colobit, I suspect that there never was a problem with US investors getting involved with Colobit. My suspicion is that Colobit’s lawyers simply were misinformed at first and are now aware of what I am saying. I seriously doubt if the folks at Colobit have taken any legal action relative to all this. They might simply have gotten a legal OPINION. But, all’s well that ends well. I’m probably splitting hairs here. I think that the important thing to note is that, if an investor uses Bitcoin, there probably are no limitations on where he can invest. This obviously applies not only to Colobit, but to other HYIPs as well.
Again, this is my opinion on all this. Perhaps I have some of it wrong. Please, if any readers have something to add, we would be very glad to update this as it is a very important issue for HYIP investors in the US.
It is worth noting that, if you go to the “Cluster Map” tool on the Emily News blog, you will see that the greatest number of Emily News readers reside in the US. So, it appears to me that US investors have somehow or other figured out how to get around restrictions on moving money across the borders of the US. Perhaps this is by means of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
