Very Interesting “Documentation” from FootballChange.
Here at Emily News, we are constantly on the lookout for news items from HYIPs that we feature on our monitor. We like to keep our followers up to date on the latest from these programs. So, as I was perusing their websites a few days ago I happened on a news release from FootballChange entitled “Additional documents publicated.” The brief release states:
Dear members of FootballChange family; Due to numbers of requests from our German’s promoters and investors we have decided to the public our official registration documents from 2012. From now on they can be found in the Legal Documents section. We would like to also invite you to watch a short company’s CEO speech. We wish you all the best FC Team …
Along with this brief note was a video speech by Will Thorton, the CEO of FootballChange. I’ve actually forgotten what he said in the speech. But, a few things struck me about it.
First, I suspect that one intent of the speech was to show us what a busy professional man Mr. Thorton is. Well, Mr. Thorton rarely looks at the cameraman; he is always looking somewhere else. Of course, he is READING his speech from some sort of out of view prompter. Isn’t he capable of giving such a brief presentation “off the cuff?” After all, FootballChange is his life’s work, right? Second, I have at many times in my life played the role of an administrator. Perhaps I am the exception; but, I have NEVER had a spotlessly clear desk like he has. He must have a very light workload! Please don’t believe that the journal he’s writing in the beginning of the video is for real. It’s just a prop. But, so much for the video…
Then I decided to check out the “Legal Documents” section of the FootballChange website. At first glance these “documents” are impressive. Mr. Thorton received some coaching awards in 2008 and 2013. Is he still active in football? No one knows for sure. Then I looked at the legal documentation for the company. There is the typical “Certificate of Incorporation of a Private Limited Company” issued by the Registrar of Companies for England and Wales. It’s dated June 15, 2017. Hmmm. I thought this company was around long before that. THAT BRIEF NEWS RELEASE SAID THE COMPANY WAS INCORPORATED IN 2012! But, then I remembered that a very high percentage of HYIPs have such articles of incorporation. I no longer even look at them when reviewing a program because I know they are extremely easy to obtain and amount to NOTHING. And, Mr Thorton does what every other HYIP admin does on such documentation. The company is clearly a ONE MAN SHOW. The only officer in the company is Mr. Thorton — who is the sole director. He is also the only shareholder. No secretary? No treasurer? No other directors? My goodness, I have started a few very small non-profit corporations in the past and I at least had to have a few people listed in the articles of incorporation other than myself.
There is a statement in the website along with these legal documents that says:
Due to it’s commercial activities, charity support and cooperation with independent entities representing our business, the company must be legally registered. Here we show the transparency of our company and encourage you to analyze our documents. If you have any questions, we are happy to answer them via our live chat support, email or phone either directly with a member of the board of directors or one of our competent staff. The legal documents page will be regularly updated with further certificates and legal documents necessary for further development of the company which is international in nature. We are currently awaiting official confirmation of the legal status of the company in China.
Well, this is interesting. Now, FootballChange has a Board of Directors — and a staff! The incorporation papers were finalized this past June. Was a Board of Directors put together after that? Were staff members hired after that? But, that’s not all. The website even has very nice photos of the FootballChange staff. Aren’t those deputy CEOs on the Board of Directors? Don’t any of those staff members function as officers of the corporation that should be listed in the articles of incorporation? My goodness!
I want to repeat that it is the policy of Emily News NOT to try to dig up dirt about an HYIP featured on its website. However, in the situation where a company makes a specific effort to deceive our readers, we feel that we must speak up. When an HYIP Admin brags about the virtues of his company and there are so many inconsistencies, we feel that it is our duty to point them out. That is the reason for this news commentary.
By the way, I never got to trying to understand the new German documents that were published by FootballChange…
