Discussion.

In Part 1 of this review of ElTrade (read it here), we gathered information that we thought would be helpful in drawing conclusions about the pros and cons of this investment program.  The first thing that we recommended was avoiding the four highest interest investment plans offered by ElTrade because of the high initial investments that are required.  We then proceeded to gather information about the four remaining plans.  Here’s what we came up with:

All plans are 180 business days long. This translates to 245 calendar days.

All plans return your investment at their conclusion.

Investment plan website information:

Plan Name      Min Invest       Daily Business Day Rate
Light                $10                  0.8%
Light Pro          $500                1.0%
Medium          $2,000             1.2%
Medium Pro    $5,000             1.4%

Break Even Points:

Plan Name      Calendar Days
Light                171
Light Pro          137
Medium          114
Medium Pro    98

Daily Net Interest:

Plan Name                  DNI
Light                            0.59%
Light Pro                      0.73%
Medium                       0.88%
Medium Pro                1.03%

The most outstanding feature of the ElTrade investment plans is that they are very long term.  As indicated in Part 1 of the review, they all run for 245 days (over eight months), at which time your investment is returned.  They all pay modest daily interest rates, which on a calendar day basis come out to around 1% or less, the lowest being 0.59%.  These low returns make for very long times for the plans to break even, the light plan taking the better part of six months to break even.

In long-term investment plans such as these it becomes more and more important for the investor to have confidence in the ability of the program to survive for the duration of the investment plan that he has put his money into.  Ideally, he would like the program to survive for a lot longer.  With short-term investment plans that are only a month or two long , this is not that important.  In HYIP Insights #6, we discussed this issue in depth.  It might be worth your while to take a another look at this article in case you’ve forgotten about it.

Concerning profitability, these plans are at the low end of the scale.  In discussing profitability, we typically multiply DNI by seven to come up with average weekly profit.  You can see that, on the low end, for the Light Plan, this weekly profit will be around 4% (7 x .59) while, on the high end, for the Medium Pro Plan it will be around 7% (7 x 1.03).  However, it is unlikely that here will be many investors in this plan as the minimum investment is a rather high $5,000.  The Light Pro Plan would have a weekly profit or around 5% (7 x .73) and the Medium Plan would have a weekly profit of around 6% (7 x .88).  In HYIP Insights #23, we suggested that an investor aim at programs with weekly profits between 5% and 10%.  This was a very rough suggestion.  But, you can see that the Light Pro and the Medium Plans just sneak into this range.

The flip side of the coin is risk.  As you might well expect, the ElTrade investment plans score high in this department.  In HYIP Insights #12, we suggested that programs offering investment plans having DNIs below 1% should have a high probability of long term survivability.  Essentially, all of the ElTrade investment plans are in this range.  This is almost always the trade off.  Low profitability usually goes along with low risk.

There is something we should have done in Part 1 of this review.  However, let’s take a look at it now.  This is to determine the total profit that each of these investment plans pays.  For the Light Plan, with a business day net interest of .8%, the total net interest (profit) that the plan will pay after 180 business days will be 144% (.8 x 180).  Here’s the result for the other three plans.

Plan Name                  Total Net Interest (Profit)
Light                            144%
Light Pro                      180%
Medium                      216%
Medium Pro                252%

These returns are considerable.  It just takes longer than usual to get them in long-term plans such as these offered by ElTrade.

Earnings Examples.

OK, let’s take a look at how much money you can earn from the ElTrade investment plans.  Suppose that you invest $100 in the Light Plan.  Every business day, you will receive .8% of this or $0.80.  Since you only receive this income on business days, we also determined that this averages out to around .59% per calendar day or $0.59 per calendar day.  After 171 days (almost six months), you will break even and, after that, everything that you earn will be “pure” profit.  Since the program runs for 245 days, you will have 74 days of this (245-171) and you will earn an additional $44. (74 x .59).  In addition, after the plan ends, you will also get your $100 investment back.  So, your total net profit at the end of the eight-month investment period will be $144 (44 + 100).  Of course, from the chart above we already know that the total profit we will receive is 144%.  So, for our $100 investment, this is the $144 we just determined.

As a second example, suppose that you invest $1,000 in the Light Pro Plan.  You will earn 1% of this per business day or an average of .73% per calendar day.  This would come to $7.30.  You will break even in 137 calendar days and the last chart tells us that your total net profit for the eight month investment period would be 252% or $2,520.  Not bad at all…

Conclusions.

ElTrade offers a total of eight long-term investment plans.  We recommend only paying attention to the four lower interest plans.  All the plans are 180 business days (245 calendar days) long.  Interest rates are modest and it takes three to six months for a plan to break even.  These relatively low returns would appear to give ElTrade a better than average chance of long-term survivability.  This program will potentially appeal to the conservative investor interested in modest but steady returns over a long period of time.  It will not appeal to the investor looking for higher returns over a short time period.  With programs such as this, everything depends on the reputation of the parent company.

I hope that this information is helpful.
