Beware at the moment..<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<p><strong>The Roboton Investment Plans.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recently, we published a \u201cFirst Thoughts\u201d article about <a href=\"http:\/\/emilynews.com\/link.php?id=1336\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Roboton (opens in a new tab)\">Roboton<\/a> in which we summarized the company\u2019s investment plans in the following way:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>For the online investor, <a href=\"http:\/\/emilynews.com\/link.php?id=1336\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Roboton  (opens in a new tab)\">Roboton <\/a>presently offers two investment plans, with a third scheduled to be released in January of 2020.&nbsp; The first plan, called the \u201cMedic Plan,\u201d pays you 1% per business day for 11 business days and then returns your investment at the end of the 11 business day period.&nbsp; The second plan, called the \u201cScientist Plan,\u201d is also based on business days.&nbsp; It pays an interest rate that depends on the day of the week &#8212; something that I haven\u2019t heard of before &#8212; that varies from 4% on Monday up to 8% on Friday.&nbsp; In this case, your investment is returned as part of your interest.&nbsp; This investment plan runs for 20 business days (four calendar weeks). <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/emilynews.com\/link.php?id=1336\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9600\" src=\"http:\/\/emilynews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/rt468.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"468\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n<p>This is actually a fairly complete description of the two investment plans.&nbsp; However, in tabular form, things would look like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Medic Plan (11 business days)<\/li><li>$10 minimum<\/li><li>1% daily for 11 business days<\/li><li>Principal returned<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Scientist Plan (20 business days)<\/li><li>$50 minimum<\/li><li>4% on Monday<\/li><li>5% on Tuesday<\/li><li>6% on Wednesday<\/li><li>7% on Thursday<\/li><li>8% on Friday<\/li><li>Principal included<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Analysis of the Roboton Investment Plans. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s look at the first investment plan, the Medic Plan, more closely.&nbsp; First of all, it should be obvious that, with a daily interest of 1%, you will not break even until your investment is returned to you after the 11 business day investment period ends.&nbsp; Let\u2019s assume that there will be two weekends in this 11 business day period.&nbsp; So, the plan will be 15 calendar days long.&nbsp; The total interest that you will earn from this investment plan is the daily return of 1% times the 11 business day length of the plan, or, simply, 11%.&nbsp; This is a NET interest since your investment is returned to you at the end of the plan.&nbsp; If you average this out over the 15 CALENDAR day length of the investment plan, you come up with an average daily net interest (DNI) of 0.73% (11\/15).&nbsp; Remember that DNI is what the investor is most interested in.&nbsp; This is &#8212; on the average &#8212; the percent profit that he can put in his pocket every day of the investment plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, let\u2019s turn our attention to the Scientist Plan.&nbsp; This plan is complicated by the fact that it pays a different rate of interest every day of the week.&nbsp; I don&#8217;t see any reason for doing things this way, although, of course, there may be some advanced investment\/banking principle behind it that I\u2019m unaware of.&nbsp; However, to keep things simple (which is always a good idea), I\u2019m going to assume that the plan pays 6% per business day (the Wednesday rate) and forget about the variable rate for different days of the week.&nbsp; The overall result using this average rate will be the same. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This\ninvestment plan is 20 business days long &#8212; four weeks.&nbsp; So, it is 28 calendar days long.&nbsp; First, let\u2019s see how long it will take the\nplan to break even.&nbsp; If you divide 100% by\nthe (average) 6% daily return, you get that it will take around 17 business\ndays for the plan to break even.&nbsp; This is\naround three weeks and two days or 23 calendar days (3 x 7 + 2).&nbsp; Again, this is an estimate as you don\u2019t\nreally know where the weekends will fall during the 20 business day investment\nperiod; it depends on what day of the week you made your investment.&nbsp; The important thing is probably that you will\nbreak even somewhere near the middle of the last week of the investment plan.<\/p>\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/emilynews.com\/link.php?id=1336\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9600\" src=\"http:\/\/emilynews.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/rt468.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"468\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n<p>Next, let\u2019s\ndetermine the DNI for this investment plan.&nbsp;\nThe total GROSS interest that you will receive from the plan will be the\n6% daily return times the 20 business day length of the plan, or 120%.&nbsp; Since this includes your investment, the\ntotal NET interest that you will earn will be 100% less than this, or simply\n20%.&nbsp; Finally, averaging this out over\nthe 28 CALENDAR day length of the investment plan, you get a DNI of 0.71%\n(20\/28).&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is interesting and significant that this is essentially the same as the DNI for the Medic Plan.&nbsp; We\u2019ll discuss this and other results of our analysis in <a href=\"http:\/\/emilynews.com\/blog\/?p=9626\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Part 2 (opens in a new tab)\">Part 2<\/a> of our review of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/emilynews.com\/link.php?id=1336\" target=\"_blank\">Roboton<\/a>.&nbsp;
