Source: Cointelegraph\/<\/em><em>TradingView<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Downside accelerated amid new US strikes on Iran, while the April print of the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) Index showed inflation at its highest since 2023.<\/p>\n<p>PCE, known as the Federal Reserve\u2019s \u201cpreferred\u201d inflation gauge, came in at 0.4% month-on-month and 3.8% year-on-year, respectively, per data from the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA).<\/p>\n<p>Reacting, trading resource The Kobeissi Letter noted that annual PCE was running at nearly twice the intended level of 2%.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Fed&#8217;s top inflation metric is nearly double their target,\u201d it wrote in a post on X.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cInflation is back in full-swing.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3-images.ctmedia.io\/media\/content\/screenshot-2026-05-28-at-152805.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"858\" height=\"604\" data-original=\"https:\/\/s3-images.ctmedia.io\/media\/content\/screenshot-2026-05-28-at-152805.png\" \/><\/figure>\n<p><em>US PCE index % change (screenshot). Source: BEA<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Downside pressure on risk assets was tapered thanks to reports of a 60-day US-Iran ceasefire now awaiting approval from President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUS markets hit fresh record highs on the news,\u201d Kobeissi reported, quoting details of the plan from Axios.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>BTC price can still protect higher lows<\/h2>\n<p>Among Bitcoin traders, attention in the current range focused on the April 2025 yearly lows for BTC\/USD just below $75,000.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Related: <\/strong><\/em><em><strong>Bitcoin bids farewell to CME futures gaps with $67K still on the radar<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWould also say by the weekly close we need to be back above the 2025 Yearly Lows for bulls.
