The 10-year Treasury yield has now jumped 8% basis points to 4.06% and the dollar is surging higher. The odds of a December rate cut have dropped to just 69% from 90% earlier, per CME FedWatch.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-ad ad-desktop relative w-[calc(100vw-10px)] md:translate-x-[-50%] md:left-[49.5%] lg:left-[75.5%] xl:left-[49.75%]\">\n<div class=\"color-black relative flex items-start justify-center h-[var(--ad-height)]\">\n<div id=\"article_desktop_1\" class=\"transition-box duration-250 align-center background-repeat relative flex justify-center ease-in [&amp;&gt;iframe]:m-auto bg-inherit opacity-100 items-start w-[var(--ad-width)] h-[var(--ad-height)]\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Whether Powell is just trotting out a tough line \u2014 as Fed officials often do \u2014 or whether he really believes the central bank will return to wait and see mode, remains to be seen.<\/p>\n<p>The central bank minutes earlier, as expected, had trimmed its benchmark fed funds rate by 25 basis points to 3.75%-4.0%.
