Crypto altcoin seasons will probably keep coming, much to the delight of speculative crypto punters, but the intensity of returns will taper off as the market matures, according to a crypto analyst.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlt seasons will be weaker each cycle on from the great 2017 alt bubble,\u201d pseudonymous crypto trader Willy Woo opined in an Oct. 26 X post, referencing the year when the \u201cboom\u201d of initial coin offerings (ICOs) \u2014 a way to raise capital for a project by selling cryptocurrencies \u2014 began.<\/p>\n

Altcoin seasons will continue as investors chase higher-risk returns<\/h2>\n

Willy Woo clarified he\u2019s not saying there won\u2019t be alt seasons, noting that there will \u201ccertainly\u201d be mid-cap and low-cap cryptocurrencies \u201cpumping\u201d after Bitcoin\u2019s (BTC) price surges, as \u201cinvestors chase returns higher up on the risk curve.\u201d<\/p>\n

Traders usually watch for signs that Bitcoin dominance has peaked as a hint to start rotating capital into altcoins.<\/p>\n

According to TradingView\u00a0data, Bitcoin\u2019s dominance is 59.31%, which is\u00a0just shy of some analysts\u2019 recent predictions of 60%, which they believe is the point where\u00a0capital will start to flow into altcoins.<\/p>\n

Willy Woo claimed that the current alt cycle is shaping to be \u201cabout memecoins,\u201d which he opined is a \u201cpiss-take on the crypto space.\u201d<\/p>\n

The comments oppose those made by Mati Greenspan, the founder of Quantum Economics, who recently told Cointelegraph that the \u201cupcoming bull run will be all about Bitcoin and its layer 2s.\u201d<\/p>\n

Willy Woo warns against HODLing altcoins<\/h2>\n

Willy Woo stated that there is \u201cno pretence that it\u2019s trying to be disruptive world-changing tech, just an honest bubble casino,\u201d urging his 1.1 million followers to steer clear of long positions on altcoins:<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t ever hodl them unless you\u2019re so knowledgeable that you\u2019re an effective insider because alts are an insiders game just like the casino where the house will eventually win.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He also warned that the alt market cap reflects the \u201cwinners,\u201d not the failed tokens.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlso remember alt market cap is like the cricket bat that has had 10 new handles and 10 new blades, it\u2019s the sum of all the new winners\u2026 losers don\u2019t count to the market cap,\u201d Willy Woo stated.<\/p>\n

Many crypto analysts have been speculating when the market can finally declare that altseason has arrived.<\/p>\n

While traders often believe Bitcoin must reclaim its all-time high \u2014\u00a0which is currently $73,679, reached in March \u2014\u00a0some analysts argue that alone won\u2019t be enough to trigger altseason this time.<\/p>\n

Crypto investment firm Hashkey Capital analysts believe \u201caltcoin season is more probable when Bitcoin\u2019s price surpasses $80,000.\u201d<\/p>\n
