This is the third part of a series of reviews in which we are summarizing what was presented in older HYIP Insights<\/em> articles.\u00a0 The intent of the articles that you read in HYIP Insights<\/em> is to give you information that will enable you to better understand how the HYIP \u201cGame\u201d works.\u00a0 And, this, in turn, we hope will make you a more successful investor.\u00a0 We believe that the information we provide in the HYIP Insights<\/em> articles is timeless; it is as relevant now as the day it was written.\u00a0 This is the reason we are writing this series of reviews.\u00a0 We hope that they will remind you of what we had to say in the original articles and that you will read them again.<\/p>\n

HYIP Insights #10<\/em><\/a> — Let\u2019s be Polite!\u00a0 No More Scams!<\/strong>\u00a0 This article by us was an attempt to \u201celevate\u201d the HYIP business a little bit.\u00a0 It was and still is popular to refer to an HYIP that closes its doors as a \u201cscam.\u201d\u00a0 Perhaps that\u2019s part of the way this business works, but we at EmilyNews<\/em> don\u2019t like it.\u00a0 First of all, there might occasionally be an honest HYIP that comes along and, like many real-life brick and mortar businesses, simply doesn\u2019t survive.\u00a0 The guy running it may actually lose as much or more money than the investors.\u00a0 Is it right to refer to his business as a scam?\u00a0 Of course, most HYIPs ARE scams and we know this from the beginning.\u00a0 Does it make sense to treat them as legitimate until the day they close and then suddenly decide then and there that they are scams?\u00a0 Not really.\u00a0 So, we have opted to stop using this rather strong word to refer to the businesses that we write this blog about.\u00a0 So, on EmilyNews<\/em>, there are no more scams, only businesses that close up shop.\u00a0 This said, there is one type of HYIP that DOES bother us a bit.\u00a0 This is the one that goes to great lengths to tell people over and over again what a great company they are.\u00a0 After a while this gets stale.\u00a0 We still don\u2019t use the word \u201cscam\u201d to describe these guys.\u00a0 But, we certainly don\u2019t like them.\u00a0 And, they close up shop just like almost everyone else\u2026<\/p>\n

HYIP Insights #11<\/em><\/a> — Is Compounding a Miracle or a Monster?<\/strong>\u00a0 This was a very long three-part article.\u00a0 In fact, it took me a while to read through it all!\u00a0 In this article I gave a number of illustrations to show how amazingly profitable compounding of your earnings can be.\u00a0 This is the \u201cmiracle.\u201d\u00a0 On the other hand, I warned that compounding is a very risky business.\u00a0 That\u2019s the \u201cmonster!\u201d\u00a0 I also worked through a number of examples of \u201cpartial\u201d compounding, a compromise procedure where, rather than reinvest ALL of your earnings, you only reinvest a part of them.\u00a0 If you feel an irresistible urge to compound, that\u2019s probably the way to go.\u00a0 In addition, I talked about doing compounding on your own — in case the program you are interested in doesn\u2019t offer that feature.\u00a0 You can always do this, although it\u2019s not automatic and there will be slight time lags while making the reinvestments.\u00a0 Finally, the article included a bunch of spreadsheet printouts so that you can see in detail how your principal and earnings can grow with compounding.\u00a0 If you have a program that you are in love with and are thinking of compounding your earnings by reinvesting in it, you might want to read through this article.\u00a0 It could give you some \u201cinsights.\u201d<\/p>\n

HYIP Insights #12<\/em><\/a> — An Investment Formula.<\/strong>\u00a0 If you thought the previous article was a long one, this one is even more extreme.\u00a0 I recall writing it and I kept thinking of additional ideas that seemed important.\u00a0 By the time I was done, the article was FOUR parts long!\u00a0 I believe that this was the article where I introduced the concept of \u201cdaily net interest\u201d or DNI.\u00a0 If you\u2019re a regular follower of EmilyNews<\/em>, you know by now that DNI is the best measure of the profitability of an investment plan because it is a single quantity that includes the effects of BOTH the interest offered and the length of the plan.\u00a0 In the article, I referred to numerous programs that were active at the time and determined the DNI for each of them.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0I also suggested dividing investment plans into low, medium, and high interest plans depending on their values for DNI.\u00a0 Here\u2019s what we suggested:<\/p>\n

DNI less than 1%.\u00a0 Low interest program
\nDNI between 1% and 2%.\u00a0 Medium interest program
\nDNI greater than 2%.\u00a0 High interest program<\/p>\n

In the case of high interest plans which are the least likely to survive in the long term, we recommended getting involved with the program as soon as possible after it opens and then leaving the program as soon as the investment plan you are using ends.\u00a0 We advised NOT investing in such a plan a second time.\u00a0 Resist the temptation.\u00a0 In the case of low interest programs where you are hoping for long term survival of the program in order that you will come out ahead, we recommended taking a thorough look at what the website has to say about the program (its \u201clegend\u201d) in an effort to get a feel for the probability of long term survival of the program.\u00a0 For high interest programs, this isn\u2019t really important as you expect the program to close quickly.\u00a0 You just want to \u201cget in and get out\u201d as quickly as you can.\u00a0 For Medium interest programs, anything can happen and you have to treat them on a case by case basis.\u00a0 And, how you treat them might depend a lot on your personal investment strategy.\u00a0 The cautious investor might treat them like a high interest program while the more adventuresome investor might treat them like a low interest program.<\/p>\n

There is a lot more detail about all this in the set of four articles.\u00a0 They would probably be well-worth a second look if you would like greater \u201cinsights.\u201d<\/p>\n
